Yellowstone Retail started with a simple frustration: it’s getting hard to buy things that last.
Too much of what’s for sale today is made to be replaced. Handles snap, coatings flake, zips give out the month after the warranty does. We got tired of buying the same things twice.
So we opened a store with the opposite rule. Everything we carry is something we’ve used ourselves (cooked with, carried, slept under, dropped) and would happily buy again. If we wouldn’t give it to a friend, we don’t sell it.
The name is a nod to big-sky country: long winters, far-off towns and gear that has to work when the nearest store is hours away. We’re an independent shop, not connected with the national park, just fans of the kind of country it protects.

A small catalog means we know every piece inside out, and can tell you honestly whether it’s right for you.
Repair over replace
We sell the balms, brushes and patches that keep things going, and we’ll always help you fix something before you replace it.
Straight talk
Plain prices, plain policies, plain answers. If something isn’t right for what you need, we’ll say so.
Who we are
A handful of people who cook outdoors more than strictly necessary, keep their grandparents’ cast iron in rotation and get unreasonably excited about a good buckle. We pick every product, pack every order and answer every email ourselves.
